SLAF contingent ready for UN deployment

The passing out parade of the No 5 contingent of the Aviation Unit under the United Nations helicopter deployment in Central African Republic (MINUSCA) was held yesterday (5) at the SLAF Base Katunayake. This Heli-Deployment, comprising 18 Officers and 92 Airmen, is scheduled to proceed to Central Africa during the month of September 2019.Air Force Commander Air Marshal Sumangala Dias took the salute of the passing out parade commanded by Wing Commander K. M. Wanniarchchi, the Contingent commander of the Heli-Deployment. The Commander addressed the contingent personnel and family members present at the passing out parade.

Air Marshal Dias emphasised that UN Headquarters had appreciated the yeoman service carried out by Sri Lanka Air Force aviation contingents deployed in South Sudan and the Central African Republic owing to display of service professionalism and devotion to duty of Lankan service personnel.

Chief-of-Staff Air Vice Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana and members of the Air Force Board of Management, Officers, Other Ranks and family members were also present at the passing out parade, the Air Force said.
